The story is definitely quite linear, but I personally enjoy it so far. It's not super extensive, but it is there and you can take advantage of it in many fights. The similarity with DOS2 is probably more on the elemental magic and how it affects enemies and the terrain as well as the fact that it is turn based combat. On the contrary, I'm having so much fun with it (even considering all its flaws), it feels like binge-watching an exciting TV show. I re-read what I've just written, and apparently one might think that I don't recommend the game. There are some choices, but almost all of them are purely cosmetic (like what item will your friend carve for fun?). All you choose in the story part is whom to increase rapport with (that may or may not have consequences). All in all, I'd say that combat is dynamic and fun.ĥ) Frankly, there are almost no choices at all. There is no initiative here, you can move your characters in any order and even reroll a certain number of moves you're unhappy with. Leveling up stats is automatic, but you can choose class and abilities (note that classes have certain requirements, and hybrid melee/magic ones may require a bit of artificial leveling up of some skills). The use of terrain is really meager, but technically it's there. There are 5 female options (one NPC, 3 companions and one somewhere in the middle) and one male.Ĥ) Similar as in "also TB". 1) Yep, he has a fixed look, but at least he's a full-fledged character, not some generic dude like in many eurojank RPGs.Ģ) Absolutely (although they probably shouldn't have called a mode without permadeath "casual").ģ) Romance is really light: you develop friendship with multiple characters throughout the game, and, from what I've read (haven't finished the game yet, I'm on chapter 25 of 27), you give a special gift to a chosen person - and you've got your romance.
